VERNON BURNIN' BIKE RIDE.
The Vernon Jaycees welcome you to the thirteenth annual Vernon Burnin' Bike Ride, You are invited to join other cyclists as they blaze the roads of Wilbarger County. The ride promises to be fun and challenging, for the novice as well as the expert. So bring your water bottles and come prepared for a hot time!!
Entry Fee....will be $20.00 per person if pre-registered as of August 1st ,2008.Please pre-register so enough supplies will be available for everyone ( everyone who pre-register is guaranteed a T-shirt) .After August 1st,all entry fees will be $25.00.Make checks payable to Vernon Jaycees.

Packet Pick-up/Late registration...
6:00 pm-7:00pm Friday 15th at the King Physical Ed Center at Vernon College.
Starting at 6:00am the day of the ride at the King Physical Ed Center at the Vernon College.
Packets will include a T-shirt (Guaranteed to pre-registered riders only) and various goodies.

Parking and Facilities....Plenty of parking will be available at the college. Sorry, no parking will be permitted along Highway 70..Bathrooms and showers will be available at the King P.E. Center (at the Vernon College) so bring your towels and soap!!!

Tour Routes
12 MILE-for the novice, a good family ride for those with young children.
22 MILE-flat, rural, with unpredictable winds.
38 MILE-rural and scenic ride with some hills ad challenging winds.
62 MILE-(100k)- a scenic ride through the Waggoner Ranch and along the Pease River: challenging hills with lots of wind and lots of heat :a challenge for even the expert.

Rest Stops.... will be approximately every 10 miles and will be well stocked with water, ice, sport drink, fruit and cookies. There will also be lots of fun and lots of encouragement!!!

Road Assistance.....will be provided by Sag Wagons for the rides who can no longer continue the event. Sags will not perform repairs or supply parts, so be sure to come prepared with flat-fixing equipment.

Rules...ANSI or SNELL.... approved helmets are mandatory!!! Please obey all traffic rules unless law enforcement officers are present to direct you. Riders may ride no more than 2 abreast. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

Proceeds of the Ride....Will benefit local Vernon Community events.

Finish Line Festivities....Awards will be presented to the 1st place finishers in the 100k,38,22 and 12 mile tours.Spread your blanket on the beautiful lawn of the VC campus and enjoy the celebration!!! Quench your thirst and appetite with a variety of refreshments, etc, that will be sponsored by local community organizations.
